Job Overview:
The Online Lecturer in Islamic Studies will provide an in-depth educational experience in the Islamic faith (creed), its history, jurisprudence, theology, and cultural practices, leveraging digital platforms to reach a global student body. This role encompasses the development of online course materials, management of courses through Google Classroom, and conducting live teaching sessions. A key aspect of this position is the ability to deliver content and engage with students proficiently in English, facilitating a broader understanding and appreciation of Islamic Studies across diverse linguistic backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development in English Language: Create and update course syllabi, materials, and assessments in English, ensuring content is accessible and engaging for students with varying language proficiencies.
- Curriculum Development and Preparation: Design, develop and regularly update course syllabi, lecture materials, readings, and assessments. Ensure that all materials are accessible and engaging for an online format.
- Google Classroom Management: Utilize Google Classroom to its full potential, managing course content, assignments, grades, and communications. Ensure a seamless and intuitive learning experience for students.
- Online Live Teaching: Conduct live lectures and seminars through video conferencing platforms, engaging students in real-time discussions, Q&A sessions, and interactive activities.
- Student Engagement and Support: Create a supportive online community, encouraging collaboration, discussion, and exploration of Islamic Studies topics. Provide timely feedback and support through Google Classroom and other communication channels.
- Assessment and Feedback: Design and implement assessments that accurately measure student learning. Utilize digital tools for submitting and grading assignments, providing constructive and timely feedback to students.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate expertise in online education tools and platforms, specifically focusing on Google Classroom. Continuously explore new technologies to enhance the learning experience.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Master's degree in Islamic Studies (English Language) or a related field required; Ph.D. preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience in teaching Islamic Studies online, with strong skills in curriculum development and delivery in English language.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English (Arabic preferred) is essential, with the ability to teach, communicate, and provide feedback in the target language.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in online education platforms, especially Google Classroom, and the capacity to integrate various digital tools to enhance teaching and learning.
